Or out following tragic events like this -- where metal and tree become one (seriously the power of a tornado amazes EVERY SINGLE TIME!!).
Walking through burned out properties and seeing the pure power of a wildfire.
And while I may get up at an awful, early hour, how can anyone deny God when they get to see him paint the sky like this almost every day.
And then there is the fun stuff -- like hand-feeding an orphaned, pet deer at the Edmond Animal Shelter.
Or wearing silly Christmas sweaters and a swan hair bow on TV just because my boss said I could.
But quite possibly the coolest thing I've ever done happened this week -- I'm really not in to politics too much and I definitely do not currently support any one candidate -- however, Monday night while getting ready to go to a birthday dinner (yup, I turned 30!) with my parents my manager called me and said, "Hey, what do you think about interviewing Newt Gingrich tomorrow morning at 7 am?"
SERIOUSLY!!
The man who was, at one time, the third most powerful man in the "free" world.
So, I calmly said, "Sure, that sounds cool."
So, Tuesday morning there I was -- meeting Newt Gingrich.
I had 10 minutes for the scheduled interview. Since my birthday was the day before and my parents were down I didn't have a lot of time to prepare, so I put it on Facebook and let others do the work for me. I also asked a couple of co-workers for their questions and then got information on his speech the night before from another co-workers tweets.
I had ten topics and we hit all of them quite quickly. I think I could have gone longer, because no one seemed to be monitoring me, but I tried to respect the time I was given.
Oh and Gena, if you read this, his official answer to what hair product his wife uses was, "Oh, I should know this, but I don't. Tell your viewer to look on the Internet. Someone recently did an article on it."
One of his aids said it is, "concrete." Ha!
And one more picture -- a profile shot so you can tell it really is me.
And no, he did not hit on me. People seem to ask that a lot. He was very nice, and I can tell he is incredibly smart. He mentioned Ronald Reagan A LOT in trying to compare himself to Reagan. He did shake my hand really weird at first -- not really a shake more of a gentle, I'm an old lady and you're going to kiss my hand kind of way -- that was weird. He did give me a real hand shake at the end of the interview.
When Nate got home that night he said, "I want to shake your hand. You just interviewed the man who was at one time the third most powerful man in the country."
He's funny -- although I had not thought of it that way until he said that -- good thing or I would have been even more nervous.
And that my friends is why I have one of the coolest jobs in the world (next to being a mom of course).

Very cool! I love that you can find things to be thankful for in your everyday work! Keep up the great work!
I saw that on tv and was thinking how cool for you at the time! Neat post!
Very cool to interview Newt. From your title I thought maybe you were going to talk about the girl at my school that you interviewed. It was nice to officially meet you.
You got a Presidential candidate to answer a question I have been dying to have answered for six months. He called me your viewer!!!! I can seriously go to bed happy for the rest of my life. Thanks Chellie.
Awesome that he answered Gena's question!! :) That makes me smile!
