My dear sweet sister-in-law gave birth to this precious little guy last Thursday! I have been so excited to meet baby Cayden.
Isn't he precious!! He was due on my birthday, but came the next morning. And he came fast! She found out he was postier (face up) and so I suggested/asked about googling ways to turn him. She tried a few things she found online and within hours was in full blown labor. They went to the hospital about he was born about two hours later! Way to go Angela! She felt like she was going into labor every day for pretty much the whole week before, but it would stop, likely because he was stuck face up.
Brixton adores him! I can't wait to see them start playing together in a few months.
I've made my SIL a quilt and bought several other adorable things for her and Cayden, but I got to thinking, new dads are always left out.
So I decided I wanted to do something special for my brother-in-law when Cayden arrived. A few months ago I messaged my SIL to ask what his favorites were... snacks, drinks, teams, etc.
I took this to my BIL at the hospital. I wanted to make sure he got it there because let's be real, new moms get everything! They get the showers and all the love during pregnancy while dad just looks on. Then, at the hospital, they are forced to sleep on those awful couches. Not to forget that we moms are fed and taken care of hand and foot by the hospital staff, while new dads just have to hope someone will bring them take out or they can catch a trip to the hospital cafeteria.
Here's what I filled his goody tub with...
I wanted to make sure that he had a couple outfits for Cayden that showed a little Daddy Love! And my BIL is a big car guy so the flag onesie was perfect!
One of his favorite candies is apparently Reese's, so I made sure to include lots of those along with a few other treats and some gum just in case.
He also likes Goldfish and I was REALLY excited when I found these Baby Goldfish -- it even has blue font!
And then a little burp cloth with his favorite team... LSU. And my SIL's favorite is OU so I went ahead and got her one too, but I did not put it in with all his stuff.
One last look... I think it turned out really cute. I thought about putting "Dad" on the front, but decided not to so that the tub would be more versatile if they need/want to use it somewhere else once all the candy is gone.
I found the tub at Hobby Lobby -- Buzz Lightyear came along for that trip -- see the tub below, it comes in a dozen colors. Buzz insisted on wearing the wings that day. Speaking of dads, Buzz's dad told him he could wear the wings to the store. Buzz's mom was not very excited about it, but survived with only mild embarrassment.

That is really a great idea! I always felt that way too so I got a hardback children's book for the baby to "give" Daddy the day we got home from the hospital. It would be a special book for Daddy to read to baby.
Love that idea of giving something to the Dad. I miss my little Buzz going to the store with me. Don't wish it away too soon!
That's an awesome idea! And so true. Those poor dads get jipped...I hope he liked it!!
