My Night At The Emmys

I WON AN EMMY!!! Sorry, I'm a little excited.
Saturday night Nate and I got all dressed up for the Heartland Emmy Gala. I told Nate I felt like we were going to prom, just in our 30s.

Here we are before the banquet... so fun. My mom bought me that dress and I got my hair done all fancy for the event.

We even took Nate's dad's Corvette. That was fun too. I had convinced myself before we got there that I needed to just have fun no matter what, win or lose. Just being nominated is a pretty big honor so I was telling myself that I should just enjoy that and not worry about the gold statue.

We had a great dinner and then came the time for our category to be announced. My friend/co-worker Micah and I were nominated together for a story we did on distracted driving last July.

There were two nominees in our category. It was just like on TV. They had an announcer say "And the nominees are..." and they showed a clip of ours and then the competition. And THEN... they announced us as the winners!!!!!

KFOR also won a couple of station Emmy's -- this was the news crew. There were also nominations for promotions but those guys didn't join us for the picture.

And what's a banquet these days without a little photo booth fun???

I have no idea what to do with that golden statue now. I feel silly putting it out for everyone to see. We decided to leave it out for a little while and then put it in it's silk lined box for safe keeping later.

Sunday Brixton asked if we could keep it in his room. I did let him have it in there during nap time with the ground rule that he could not touch it. He was looking at it closely and I asked what he was doing and he said basically he just wants to look at it so he can remember what it looks like when he's bigger and breaks it. Nice.
