Designer's Challenge: HELP!

Our new house has these windows that I do not know what to do with!
They are short, about 22" tall, and very wide, some are 4 feet others 6 feet.
I have read a few blogs that say have curtains that go all the way to the ground.

And I'm really not a fan of the short curtains that came with the house.

So, what do you think?

I think I'm going to get some nice, thick panel blinds (not vertical ones, but horizontal)-- I can't decide if that will be enough. Also, Nate's not a big fan of curtains but I may be able to convince him on these windows. Afterall, we are going to have curtains in the living room because otherwise the whole neighborhood can always see into our house through our HUGE glass back patio doors.

long curtains. And if you put a piece of furniture underneath it that takes care of the awkward space. Can't wait to see more pics!

I agree with Katie. Long curtains. And you could always use bamboo shades under your curtains, they give nice privacy and let light in. You could get them longer than your windows and have them hang under the window ledge, so they would appear longer. (hope that makes sense, hard to explain)! Good luck! Love seeing pictures!

Oh.. there's also a vent under most of the windows which presents an issue with putting furniture under the window.

I think I would do the wood blinds (If they even make them that size?). You know those white thich horizontal blinds? I think those look nice. I would maybe do a valance (if there is room)for some color and texture but not curtains. Long curtains I think would look weird but the short ones do too?! Haha. Google picturs of short windows and see what they do!? Good luck!!
