Pink or Blue???

Nope, I'm not pregnant, but my friend Erin is!

This past weekend she had a "Gender Reveal" party for the little bun in her oven.

I was the lucky one who got to make the cupcakes! Lucky, because it meant I got to be the first to know (even before her and Justin) if she's having a boy or a girl!!

I was super excited about this. She asked me to be a part of this a few weeks ago. Originally we were going to do a cake and then decided on cupcakes. I knew I wanted to do something with both colors but thought having half of the cupcakes blue and half pink was BORING!! So, a googling I went.

She brought me the sealed envelope Thursday and when I opened it I got so excited... I immediately knew this party was going to be AWESOME!!

I made the cupcakes.. I think these are the prettiest undecorated cupcakes I've ever baked. They're so even!
I found a great recipe for creme filling, it's supposed to taste sort of like the center of an oatmeal cream pie. Hmmm... what color should I die the creme filling?
I have filled cupcakes before, but it's time consuming and messy so I wanted a better way. Turns out that same sight had a great, super easy way to fill them. Just pipe it in, no removing/scooping out cake.

Guess that picture revealed the secret... oops. In that case, here's what they looked like once filled.

I have to cover all that blue. Again, I didn't want to do single color icing so I googled two-tone icing and found this. I meant to take a picture of that step but forgot. Basically, you wrap each color in plastic wrap and then put them in the same piping tube. I did have to buy a bigger coupler and tip because I didn't have the large cupcake tips, but this was a good excuse to go buy one.

And here they are(again)!!! I found the little pinwheels at Hobby Lobby and had to have them!

Now, for the big reveal. Justin and Erin were convinced they were having a girl. So imagine their surprise when they saw the BLUE filling.. well, you don't have to imagine it, here it is...

That blur is Justin falling to the ground! He was so shocked and excited. I also just LOVE Erin's face... too cute!

And a look inside the cupcake.

I am so happy for their family. I am so glad they let me be a part of this. It was definitely the hardest secret to keep. I did tell Nate.. I had to keep myself from commenting on Erin's blog or Facebook in fear that I would somehow give it away.

Oh, and remember these babies.. Olivia is now two, and the others aren't far behind. Two of them are about to be big sisters and the other two are in no hurry.
