His First Trip To The Emergency Room

I just realized a few days ago I never blogged about Brixton's big fall -- resulting in FOUR stitches.
Nate took B on the CR retreat back at the beginning of November. I had to work so I couldn't go. Imagine my SHOCK when they got home and B had this HUGE band aide on his forehead.
He was actually asleep when they walked in. Nate's first words were, "Don't freak out... but... we had to go to the Emergency Room. He busted his head open."
This picture's a little blurry, but was my first glance at the "damage."Here's what happened. It was during a worship session. Nate was leading a closing prayer and Brixton was at the back with some other kids playing (they were supervised). During the prayer there was a big THUMP!! And then the scream. Brixton was running on a tile floor and slipped, falling head first into a fireplace ledge. Lots of blood ensued. Apparently he was the second kid to fall -- but the only one needing stitches. They wrapped him up in a blanket and off to the Stillwater Medical Center ER. Four stitches later they were on their way back to the camp. Several other moms "advised" Nate not to tell me until he got home. You see it happened late in the evening and I was already in bed, since I had to go to work at 2am the next morning. They told him that telling me wouldn't really do any good because I couldn't come and would just be really worried until then. They were right. The next morning was actually really busy for me because a HUGE earthquake hit, the largest ever recorded in Oklahoma and so I was REALLY swamped at work.
Apparently the next morning they asked him what happened and he said, "Momma did it."
When he got home he told me, "Jesus did it." And also, "Alecia did it." (That's his daycare teacher)
Now he's pretty good at telling people. He points to his nice Harry Potterish scar and says, "I ball down fireplace."Poor kid. He's still pretty cute though. Nate always says, "Chicks dig scars, right?"
