What the Bible says...

With everything being so political lately I find myself frustrated with so many people I know and even respect.
I don't want to say who I do or do not support, but what I want to say is that lately what has been on my heart is that we should pray for our leaders regardless of who they are.
I don't believe God is a member of any "party."
This morning while thinking about all the negativety I was seeing on Twitter and Facebook I decided to google "what the Bible says about praying for our leaders." (I google because I can never remember where verses are. I sure wish I could.)
This is the favorite of what I found.

"When it comes to politics, there is one thing in particular that pleases God. What pleases God is that we pray for our leaders, regardless of who they are and what political party they represent.

We read in 1 Timothy 2:1–3, we r...ead:

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions. . . . This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior.

God, through Paul, didn’t specify what leaders we are to pray for and not pray for. He didn’t say we should only pray for one particular political party. He simply said, pray 'for kings and all who are in high positions.'"   I got this from THIS site. It's not a new article. However, I think the rest of it is worth a read -- it mentions leaders in the Bible that people didn't like and how God was still able to work in those situations.   I hope if you are feeling an election hang-over that you will read this article and consider trusting that God can work through any leader, no matter what party or what belief. We just all need to trust God and commit to praying for our leaders in and out of the political season.
