I Feel The Need To Explain

Last week I posted about the numerous car that I have had since college. After having one of my best friends and my insurance man say, "You guys get a new car more than anyone I know," I feel the need to explain why I've had so many. (though I'm sure no one really cares.)

We now have the Toyota because... we bought the Subaru brand new in June of 2007.. since then dealing with the dealership has been nothing but a headache! Everytime we take it in for a routine maintenance they charge us way more than they said it would be on the phone. They are the only dealer in the area so we have to take it there. Then when we bought the car we bought this extra warranty to make sure anything that broke would be covered.. well, about two months ago the air conditioner went out.. They were going to charge us too much to fix it and of course it was the one piece not covered by the warranty.. so after arguing with the guy about how awful that is and how they lied to me about my warranty we decided to get rid of the car. FYI... Nate and his dad fixed the air conditioner with the help of a local mechanic for $45. To be honest I never really liked that car anyway.
We got the Subaru because .... before it I had a 2004 Honda Civic that my parents bought Nate and I in May or June of 2004 for a wedding/graduation gift.. I loved that car and thought I would have it until the wheels were gone.. well apparently I did.. Nate was driving Vic to Tulsa for a class.. it was a rainy day and I guess the tires weren't in great shape.. he hydroplaned into a concrete barrier.. swerving directly in front of a semi he had been trying to pass near the Bristow exit.
The fact that he walked away without a scratch proves God is taking care of us.. we don't know how the semi didn't plow into him all we know is he walked away, though Vic died that day.

Once I knew Nate was OK I was really sad about my car.. oh well, it's just stuff at least I still have my husband. Though this meant we had to start making our own car payment (remember my parents bought the Honda)

Before that I had a green '96Chevy Cavalier convertible.. I had it through most of college, and only got rid of it because my parents traded it for the civic.

Before that I had the "Grey Comet" .. a grey '92 Chevy Cavalier.. that one pretty much broke down so my parents sold it to my now ex-brother-in-law and got me the next cavalier.

Now.. Nate on the other hand enjoys getting a new car every couple of years.. It's just something he wants to do.. Although, I think he is changing his view now and is with me on the no new cars until we can pay cash for it...

Now, I must admit this post is likely me falling victim to my codependent tendencies.. though I'm still in recovery.. and working on it. :)

I understand completely...I have had 4 cars & Joshua 3 cars since we have been married for 8 years...all of which were because Joshua gets bored with them and gets that itch...I told him no new cars until I get a new house & ring(thinking that it would be forever!)...well, that time has come...we might be in trouble soon!
