Progress

There are so many projects that we have been doing and wanting to do at our house since we moved in three years ago.
We have remodeled the master bedroom and bath.. got a new heater/AC system.. and a new roof... tried to dig all the rock out of the back yard... but many of the other things have been put on hold until we have money.
Last fall we got a new roof and were able to tear down the old covered patio in the backyard. We did get a new patio cover, but we moved it and shrunk it. However, we were still left with this big, cracked, ugly concrete pad in the backyard. We considered several options for getting rid of it, but a couple weeks ago I finally hired a guy to come tear it out.
Bye, bye ugly concrete pad..

Here's what it looked like right after the last piece was pulled out.
They then scraped all the rock we had dug up and piled up into the hole left behind. We figured since the hole wasn't too deep we could just buy a few bags of dirt and fill it in..
Well, 10 bags of dirt later this is all we had. (the part that looks fresh is the 10 bags)
So, three trips to Home Depot later we managed to cover the area. I guess we should have just bought a load of dirt, but it's too late now. We planted grass, even though it's 100 degrees outside, and we do have a few areas of baby grass now popping up. I've always wanted to have a YARD at this house.. not just concrete, dirt and rock.. but GRASS. Now we will and it should be nicely filled in by the time the baby is old enough to appreciate it.
I don't have a picture of the growing grass, but I will get one.
We also tore out another bedroom. Well, I didn't. Nate and Justin Cornell did. I can't help anymore because our house was built pre-1955 which means there could be lead paint on the bottom layer. So, I had to leave during the deconstruction until it was all hauled out and cleaned up. I'll have more on that room later. But I'm almost as excited that it's gone as I am that the concrete is gone from the backyard.
On a side note, we have always had problems finishing projects, but things seem to be coming along much faster now. Maybe we should have had a baby a long time ago!
