Ours recently broke! I had no idea how expensive garage doors are... you see ours is not the standard 16x7 door. Nope, our 1960 something house has to have the original "custom" size door (aka super expensive).
Oh, and it used to be painted teal, I would love to see a picture of that. The garage on the left is the broken one, the other one doesn't have an opener, it's mainly a workshop. But speaking of that garage -- 90% of the homes in our neighborhood have that same door... but it really doesn't go with our house so we aren't going with that one.

Our first quote for the 17'6"x7' door was $3100!!!! YIKES!!! And that's for a door that matches the other garage.
Ours had a spring go out which is only like $200 to repair but since our door is the original door then every repair man (like 5) have said it's only a temporary fix and we really just need to replace the door rather than keep sinking money into the springs.
In the meantime we can't use our garage because the door won't open. Well, it does but it only goes up about a foot and then back down and then back up and then back down and getting it to stop that up and down craziness is nearly impossible. With winter around the corner and it already down to like 30 or 40 something in the morning I'm hoping we can find a reasonably priced door soon.
On a semi related note we are going to paint our house at some point -- any suggestions on a color? It would have to match that brick and rock that it bumps up to.

We have American Home Sheild insurance on our house in Edmond that we rent out, exactly for things like this. They replace just about everything for $60, including applicances. I'm not sure about actual doors, but you can buy it online, no one comes to inspect your house, for $42 a month it's totally worth it just in case. Like I said, not sure about actual doors, but it cost me $60 for a new opener to be installed.
We have a home warranty and it doesn't cover this -- we have the same company and it covers most everything except the garage door.
I know your pain. Our springs have broken twice and all the garade door people told us to just get a new door. We replaced springs only and feel ok about it. Then we lost our garage door opener and we could get in and out but only if I got outside to punch the code in - VERY COLD! We purchased a new one. We'll probably find the opener in the toy box or pantry or some place strange.
Hmmm. I can't make the picture of your house any bigger, but I would say go with one of the darker colors in the rock/brick. Is there some grey in there? Yes, I hate broken garage door scenarios. A new one makes such a difference though!
