This year I shopped early for his costume.. a great deal at the JBF sale! We really talked up the lion thing, in fact he would want to wear it in the weeks leading up to Halloween.. He even like roaring at us.. and woke Nate up that way one morning, in full costume of course.
His costume was super cheap and I just bought some brown pajamas to go under it.Here he is checking himself out in the church bathroom the night of the Fall Festival at MRCC.
He got the hang of things pretty quickly and would even say "Trick or Treat."
The church festival was our main event. Nate did take him to a few houses in our neighborhood on Halloween while I passed out candy.Checking out his loot.
Speaking of our neighborhood -- we had a bazillion trick or treaters!!! I could not believe it. I had ONE bag of candy and it went fast. I ended up grabbing the candy I had bought for the church (but forgot to take) and then Nate had to make a candy run!! Then at the end of the night we poured out Brixton's candy and gave away all the stuff we didn't think he should/could eat. At our old house we had given up and stopped buying candy because we never had trick or treaters. Lesson learned. Next year I'm buying the mega pack at Sam's OR I may just invite all our friends who don't get trick or treaters over. Everyone can bring a bag of candy and pass some out.I do need a plan for teenage trick or treaters who aren't dressed up but still knock on the door... still working on that.. something that won't leave me with toilet paper or eggs on my house afterward.
Nate said he thinks we live in one of those neighborhoods where people drive from other neighborhoods to get candy because our neighborhood is nice. I can't tell you how many kids told me my house was cool. I even heard a couple as they were walking away say, "this is like a mansion!"
Guess next year I'll need more decorations too.
