I think God is telling me something

Last Sunday I was driving from work to church on Sunday when a red car passed me on Broadway Extension. I wouldn't have thought much about it until I noticed the tag, "OMYGOD." Instantly I thought, hmm.. I wonder if that tag is meant to praise the Lord or if it is a, now acceptable form, of expressing ones self. The judgmental part of me wants to believe is was definitely not a praise. I sure hope I'm wrong.
This is just one in the line of things that have really been bothering me lately.
The other day I downloaded the app "Draw Something" the opening screen is "OMG"something. Every time I opened it I was really bothered and would look at it contemplating deleting it. I did delete it, though it wasn't because I was bothered but only because it crashed. I have decided not to redownload it though.
This weekend a girl I work with tweeted this: "Sometimes I wonder...is OMG still taking the "Lord's name in vain" or have we finally found a loophole to that?"
NO! It's not a loophole! I believe that God knows what you are saying. He knows your heart. I DO believe that "OMG" is the same as just saying it.
I hear people say "OMG"or flat out say "God" or "Jesus Christ" everyday at work and in the world. I often wonder why that has become so acceptable? Why is it that people can go around cursing the Lord all over the place? Why is that license plate not considered offensive? It offends me! Why is the name of the Lord grouped with other curse words? Why is it that people who claim to love God use his name to curse something?
This has all been standing out to me lately and I don't know why. I don't know what God is trying to tell me, but I feel like there is something there.
I have honestly wanted to say something about this on Facebook, but feel all it will do is entice some people to say it around me more often and throw my belief in my face. So, I haven't posted it.

Another thing I'm bothered by is the new show that is being promoted "GCB." Do you know what that stands for? Good Christian Belles, although originally it was not Belles, but a word that rymes with witches! Really? Wow! If you want to know what the show is about I found a review here. I sure hope the church isn't like that, although I fear there are people who have had that type of experience.

I hate that the "world" says in action it is OK to offend Christians, but not anyone else. Where's the love?

Sorry I've gone on a rant here-- I know there are a lot of different types of sin -- I just really wish this was not so widely acceptable. I wish the name of God was not something people used so casually. I wish those same people knew that God loves them even though they use his name to curse others.

I'm with you! It does seem to me that people think they have found the "loophole" and it's ok. Sad.

Totally with you on this. We do correct our kids friends if they use it in the car or at our house. I don't really feel like I have the authority to correct people outside of that, but I think there are other circumstances we could use creative responses to let others know we don't appreciate the use of God's name like that. I'm not a confrontational person so it takes a lot for me to react, tho. Sad. We seem to have to walk a fine line with our worldly friends of not being judgmental of them/having compassion on them. Our example speaks volumes!

I have the GCB book, if you want to read it. Not my typical reading material, but I read it out of curiosity. My aunt knows the author and gave it to me. It's autographed by the author and I think she made a lot of $$ selling her idea to the network. It's not a bad little story and only uses that language in it once if I remember right. The problem is that when the main character goes to church for friendship she finds a lot of backbiting, jealous, superficial gossipy women. Prayer time becomes gossip time. I think maybe it confronts some problems that do exist in the church at times but I will not be watching the show!
