Yesterday I was looking at Brixton and it hit me once again how much he is growing up. He's such a little person. He likes to be a helper. He usually has good manners. He can play by himself. He can tell me in real words what he wants and what's wrong. And as of last night, he can take a REALLY LONG walk without complaining. In fact, he wanted to keep going!
He can say his ABCs. He loves to sing. His favorites are "I've got the joy joy..." "If you're happy and you know it," and sometimes he'll sing, "Jesus Loves Me." He also tends to sing, "The B-I-B-L-E" but he will only sing it at church when flipping through a song book and usually during the sermon.
Can you understand him here -- it took the camera a moment to start so we pick up at "H."
A few weeks ago at church the young kids lead the service on a Wednesday night. A little boy lead a prayer and then B said, "My turn." And then he tried to run up to the stage, but Nate caught him before he got too far. He really likes to get on the stage at any church and sing and even waves his arm sometimes like he's leading singing. He always wants to say our prayer at dinner and it is so sweet.
His favorite book is Mr. Brown Can Moo. He loves to make all the sounds and then after we read it to him he reads it to us. He has the last couple of pages memorized. His favorites from the book are the thunder "BOOM BOOM" and "whisper whisper." (This video is long. B starts reading around 2:20)
I can now totally understand why people want another baby around this age, because he's definitely not little any more. However, I also understand how people get to this age and decide not to have any more kids. I just love him and his little personality so much. Sometimes I think it wouldn't be fair to have to try to split the little time I have with him with another baby. I can see both sides.
Yesterday we were getting out of the car and he said, "Momma, you go outside to smoke?"
I said, "No? I don't smoke. Where did you learn that?"
He said, "Santa Claus."
Last week I took him shoe shopping. Unfortunately he has my wide feet so we had a hard time finding good shoes. He did however find a pair of Lightning McQueen rainboots that he really wanted. I want him to have his own style, but did not get the shoes because he really needed sneakers. Maybe I will go and get them another time -- but for now our budget only allows one pair of shoes this month.
I love this kid ... as he would say, "all my heart."
