I'm Really Trying & Some Great News!

My Remicade infusions seem to be working. I've also been trying to make healthy diet changes, eating less processed food and trying to be more educated on food. What I have not done is be consistent on taking the EIGHT pills I'm supposed to take every day.

I mean look at these... they are HUGE!
And that pill bottle only holds a 15 day supply. I have to get two bottles every month and it's not cheap.

I've never had an issue taking pills until these. They are so big and so hard to swallow! Not only that I take EIGHT a day (2 pills, 4x a day). I know I need to take them and so this week I have really been trying to take them. I downloaded an app to remind me to take them and I think it's working.

So far this week I don't think I've missed a dose. With my old medication I was really good at taking it every time, at least until I became a mom and it started getting put on the back burner. I'm really bad at taking care of myself. I'm great at taking care of everyone else. It's the co-dependent in me -- don't worry I'm working on it.

Here's some great news... I tend to complain about my insurance because all of my prescriptions tend to cost me $60 a month. Well, with everything that has gone on this year I called last week to check on what I was going to owe and to whom I would owe it because I have received NO BILLS. Surprise, surprise I owe NOTHING, ZIP, ZERO! My insurance requires me to get my Remicade from their pharmacy which is annoying, but because I get it through them it is covered 100% -- that's a big deal because every infusion costs just under $3,000 -- that's each one. Some people I know on the drug end up paying about $600 per infusion! There's a program through Remicade which reimburses some of the cost, which helps but it's still a lot. As for my testing for my Chron's that's all covered too. It was considered a preventative measure and therefore I don't owe anything for that either!

There is still one bill that I'm waiting on processing for -- but even if I owe my deductible on that one I'll manage because I'm not having to pay the $2400 I thought I was going to have to pay for the infusions I've had so far!!

That is AWESOME! It's hard for good Moms to spend time on themselves, but necessary!
