Today I am back at work, not my normal shift, but a daytime shift. My normal shift will have to wait because my doctor said no breaking news and if I do that shift there's no one else they can send on breaking news.
Everyone here is a little nervous, they make a lot of jokes about having to deliver the baby. Truth is I'm a little nervous too. I still have contractions, but my doctor has basically said unless they get stronger I should be ok. However, if they get stronger I'm supposed to hurry to the hospital. Otherwise I may have this baby on the drive there! yikes.
The good news is Nate and I have been preparing to have a natural birth, reading everything we can, doing exercises recommended and just mentally trying to work on relaxation and focus. So, since the baby may come in a hurry it's good that we've been preparing for that because maybe it will help me to stay calm (we'll see).
At work they are taking it pretty easy on me today. No live shots, no out of town stories, etc. In fact, I'm only in the 4:30 show and then I'm done.. that rarely happens to anyone!
The best part is, unless I go out for preterm labor complications again, I will be able to keep all my FMLA/short term disability leave. They say if I go out for the actual birth then they are able to start all of that over, meaning I would get the three days I just took off added back to my 12 weeks of leave. Although I did have to count them as sick/vacation in order to get paid this week. It's just three days, but I'm glad that I'll have those three extra days with my baby when he's here rather than when he's not.

I know how you feel. I worked a half day the day I checked into the hospital with my first child. Just so I would have all the time off after the birth.
Take it easy.
I had a completely natural birth also and it was great! I would do it again for our second one! but not anytime soon:-) I am so glad to hear you are reading books and planning to go all natural... It's so worth it! Good Luck!
