Kitchen Project Update 2

Well, we are making progress! We have gone from this (left) to this (right).

Here is a better view. Things done so far. The framing of that ceiling. That little tiny wall used to stick out to the edge of the refrigerator.

The ceiling will be 10 feet in both rooms, but there is a slight drop down between the living room and those two spaces which will be 8 feet. Confusing, huh?

Here is a comparison. The top pic is from when it was all put together the old way -- the bottom is from last night.

We will be able to put insulation on top of all of that ceiling to help us save some energy. There is actually a wall going up and down to -- basically the high wall to the right will eventually continue all the way to the left. That is the part which will be at 8 feet.

And here is the craziness.... All of this dust!! That ceiling had been there for a good 50 years. So, when it came down so did 50 years worth of dust. YUCK!! All over my couch, chairs, table, and any other surface that was not shut all the way.

This picture show the back of our brown leather couch. I tried to wipe down the cushion on the right but the one on the left is still covered in dust. So.Much.Dust!

We are feeling the stress of living like this. I think Nate is a little more stressed than I am. I'm still super excited. I keep reminding him that it's OK, and to just be glad he's not feeling the stress he would if we were doing this all by ourselves!! I'm so glad we decided to hire someone. It's worth the extra time spent saving money to get it all completed a little faster.

Oh, so sorry about the dust! Seems like it gets everywhere!
