Hard to believe it's been almost two weeks since I updated! The good news is, as I write our drywall is nearing completion -- I'm going to wait until it is done for that post though. We have learned a little patience through this. I've come to figure out contractors are generally late and make a lot of empty promises about when they can show up. The good new is so far they have continued to show up, just always late.
We now have lighting and are working to decide on some key fixtures. We also received our new vent hood in the mail and so it should go in soon. We, however, currently have NO KITCHEN!! That, my friends, is challenging.
Here are lots of pictures of progress....
This is sort of neat. As we took out the cabinets we started seeing where old cabinets were in the house -- likely the original cabinets.

We have been using our second living room/den/dog's room as our main hang out area. We eat and watch TV in this room now.
Here is the kitchen with new can lights in...
And here it is a couple days later -- all the cabinets are out and so is the old drywall. YIKES!!
We found this old linoleum under the cabinets -- also (as you may see above) we have began tearing out the floor.
We are planning to put all wood floor down. We have had a couple of friends now say they do not like wood floor in the kitchen. We are considering if that is a plan we want to change or not -- so hard to know what's right! Feel free to leave your thoughts on that topic.
With so much tear out we had to make a trip to the dump. We agreed to dump our own debris in order to save a couple hundred dollars.
We went on Thursday and boy oh boy was I scared -- not of the dump --
But of all this MUD!! The truck that smashes everything was even pushing a truck which was bigger than ours out and back to the main road. I just knew we would get stuck. I mean look at all that mud.
Nate had me put the truck in first gear and told me just to take it easy and never stop. He pushed a little and we somehow made it out. There was one point where the ruts almost caused us to drive off a cliff. I panicked a little but managed to avoid it and kept going.
It was definitely a bonding experience -- ha! We unloaded about 1100 pounds of debris. We will have to make one more trip after we get all of the old tile out. Hopefully it won't be so wet next time.
The drywall guys have all of the walls covered again and will do some more work today and may be able to finish tomorrow. Once they are done and probably after we get the floor up I'll post another update. Also, soon to come the post about my dream oven and how it became a reality.
I also have an awesome video of Brixton's first school concert and Christmas updates I could post, but I have to find my cord to get the videos off of the video camera first.
Hope anyone who reads this had a Merry Christmas!!

What great memories you are making! My opinion on the wood floor/kitchen dilemma is that I would not do it considering you have a dog and a child. Tile!
